Cyclone - Design and Performance Tuning of Reverse-Flow Gas
Cyclones
A tool for design and performance tuning of reverse flow gas
cyclones with a method that enables you to break away from
traditional geometries that are often sub-optimal. Cyclone
produces a set of possible designs that achieve the desired
separation, from input data that includes operating conditions,
dust size distribution, geometrical constraints and performance
criteria. Design optimization is achieved through the adjustment of
cyclone geometry and input parameters. Final designs are displayed
with full details of the conditions, and performance data can be
explored graphically.
Cyclone was designed to be a user friendly interactive program
that allows the designer to achieve the optimal design with the
minimum effort. It operates through a series of input forms that
link to standard data entry tables. These allow easy and logical
entry of operating conditions, dust size distributions (using the
PSDEdit tool), geometrical constraints
and performance criteria. Data may be entered in any suitable units
with the data being automatically converted to the preferred
format
Results are summarized as a table of possible designs. From this
point the you can modify any individual parameter to produce an
optimum design. Trend analysis is provided on request to assist in
this process. Final designs are printed out with full details of
the conditions used. Performance data can also be reproduced
graphically for examination.
Cyclone uses the Process Manual design procedure, as described
in the Gas Cleaning technical area GC II
Part 4, for the design and performance checking of reverse flow gas
cyclones.
