Aspen Plate+™

Design, checking, and simulation of plate heat exchangers

Aspen Plate+ is a single solution for the design, checking, and performance simulation of plate heat exchangers. This includes either gasketed plate & frame, welded, or brazed plate of the type used for general heating and cooling duties, including vaporization and condensation.

Features

  • Research-Based Correlations: Models and correlations are based on more than 35 years of Aspen HTFS proprietary research, providing the user with assurance of reliable designs.
  • Optimized Designs: Aspen Plate+ automates the design optimization process, allowing for cost savings of up to 30% or more.
  • Extended Designs: Calculates the number of extra plates required in a given exchanger if the duty requirements change.
  • Physical Properties: Properties can be transferred from AspenTech’s steady state simulators or retrieved from Aspen Properties®, Aspen COMThermo®, or the heritage Aspen B-JAC™ database. More than 15,000 components and 30 vapor liquid equilibrium methods are available.
  • Graphics: Exchanger layout drawing.
  • Plates: Design with generic plates or select from a database of three major manufacturers’ plates.
  • Integrated with Aspen Plus®: High-level run-time integration enables engineers to rigorously model heat exchanger operation and identify capital savings opportunities within the context of the overall process.

Benefits

  • Improved Design: Provides optimized equipment designs for a given set of process conditions, resulting in typical savings of 10-30% on the equipment cost per heat exchanger.
  • Improved Process Operations: Integration with Aspen Plus allows for studies to be conducted resulting in reduced energy and operational costs.
  • Increased Engineering Efficiency: Enables increased emphasis on fast-track, front-end engineering through fully integrated tools for process design and exchanger thermal sizing, which are pre-requisite for cost effective projects.
