For many users of aspenONE® Engineering, the suite of Aspen products is a strategic solution set for conceptual and basic engineering, and Intergraph SmartPlant is a strategic solution set for detailed engineering.

Typical needs for information transfer include:

Making datasheets (process, mechanical, instrumentation) developed in Aspen Basic Engineering available to the detailed designer
Making equipment lists and line lists available to estimating, mechanical design, and procurement
Managing plant breakdown structure centrally and delivering it to all design tools
Delivering pipeline topology, design intent, and proposed pipe specs to the piping designer
Delivering the preliminary P&ID from FEED to detailed design
Delivering the PFD of record to the project manager and client

To support these types of information needs, AspenTech offers an adaptor to SmartPlant Foundation which enables publishing of Aspen Basic Engineering deliverables to SmartPlant Foundation and conversely retrieval of certain SmartPlant deliverables by Aspen Basic Engineering. This adapter includes a core data mapping between the Aspen Basic Engineering and SmartPlant Foundation data models. The information integration scope is shown in the accompanying table.
